App privacy policy
Version 2026-10-21-beta · Last updated: 21 October 2026 · Applies to the Lumentor app during its test phase (beta).
Lumentor is an English mentor that remembers you. To do that, the app has to process personal information: what you say to your mentor, your progress, your mistakes. This page explains, simply and honestly, what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your rights.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Lumentor is a product of Goddora (company registration in progress, Cameroon), represented by its founder. For any question or request about your data, write to [email protected]. We answer within 30 days.
2. What we collect
- Your account: your email address (to sign in with a code), your birth month and year (to check that you are at least 16), your display language, whether your mentor may explain in French, your mentor (Daniel or Sara), and your consents with their date and version.
- Your conversations with your mentor: during a live conversation, your voice is streamed in real time to the AI service that makes your mentor speak. We do not record the audio of your conversations. We keep their written transcript (what you said and what the mentor said), and a summary prepared from it.
- Your spoken answers in lessons: when you answer with the microphone, the recording is sent to a speech recognition service to find out which words you said, then it is deleted immediately: we never keep it. We keep only the recognized text and the result (right, almost, try again).
- What your mentor knows about you: the information you choose to share (for example your first name, city, job, goal, and how much time you have), the sentences you learned, your mistakes and their follow-up, the lessons you did, your exercise answers and your reviews. You can see most of this in the app ("What Daniel/Sara knows about you") and correct it.
- Technical data: your time zone (to count your days), your IP address temporarily (to prevent abuse), your device type, and call measurements (for example whether the microphone picks up sound) to fix problems.
Please don't share sensitive information with your mentor (health, religion, political opinions, ID numbers, bank details): it doesn't need it and won't ask for it.
3. Why we use it
- to provide the service: sign you in, make your mentor speak, prepare your lessons, reviews and summaries;
- to personalize your learning: your mentor remembers you, follows up on your mistakes until they're fixed, and chooses what comes next;
- to keep the service secure and prevent abuse (for example by limiting sign-in codes);
- to improve teaching quality during the beta: the team may read transcripts to fix mistakes made by the mentor or in the lessons;
- to measure our costs, so we can keep Lumentor affordable.
We rely on your consent, which you give at the start with the checkboxes (including a specific consent to the processing of your voice by AI services), and on what is necessary to provide the service you ask for.
We never sell your data. We show no ads and use no advertising trackers.
4. Who we share it with
Only with the service providers Lumentor needs to work, acting on our instructions:
- OpenAI (United States): your mentor's live voice, recognition of your voice, summaries and the preparation of review cards. Under its business terms, OpenAI does not use this data to train its models and may keep it for up to 30 days for safety before deleting it.
- Hostinger: hosting of Lumentor's server and database.
- Cloudflare: the secure connection between the app and our server, storage of lesson audio files, and our encrypted backups.
- Resend (United States): sending the emails that contain your sign-in codes.
5. Transfers outside Cameroon
Some of these providers process data outside Cameroon, in particular in the United States. These transfers are necessary for the service and are covered by contractual data protection commitments. In line with Law No. 2024/017 of 23 December 2024 on the protection of personal data, we complete the required formalities with the data protection authority.
6. How long we keep it
- Your learning data and transcripts: as long as your account exists, so your mentor remembers you.
- When you delete your account: everything is deleted from our database immediately. A copy may remain in our encrypted backups for at most 30 days, then it disappears.
- Recordings of your spoken answers: never kept (deleted as soon as the words are recognized).
- Sign-in codes: valid for 10 minutes, and never stored in plain text.
7. Your rights
- See and correct: in the app ("What Daniel/Sara knows about you"), or by writing to us.
- Delete your account and your data: at any time, directly in the app ("Delete my account"), or by writing to us.
- Get a copy of your data, withdraw your consent or object to processing: write to [email protected]. Withdrawing a consent the service needs means you stop using Lumentor.
- Complain to Cameroon's personal data protection authority (or the one in your country).
8. Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Sign-in codes are never stored in plain text. Access to the server is limited to the founder. Our backups are stored separately and tested regularly. No system is perfect: if a data breach affected you, we would tell you.
9. Minimum age
Lumentor is for people aged 16 and over. If someone says they are under 16, their account is blocked and we collect no learning data.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, the date and version at the top of this page change. If the change is significant, the app will ask you to accept it again.
